Palos Verdes Estates is a master-planned city in Los Angeles County encompassing nearly five square miles, and home to more than 13,000 permanent residents. Palos Verdes Estates was originally owned by the Bixby family, before it was purchased in 1913 by Frank Vanderlip, Sr. a financier from New York.
